Video FAQ – Music
Can I select my own music?
SHORT ANSWER:
No and Yes. Copyright laws are too strict to use recognizable music from your favorite artists. You can however help us select copyright free music tracks if you prefer. Most of the time, we do it ourself.
IN-DEPTH ANSWER:
The most common questions we get asked is whether or not you can select your own music. Unfortunately the answer in the context of the question is an honest no. We can’t use Ed Sheehan, Ray Lamontagne, or Led Zeppelin. As time goes on copyright infringement laws are getting more strict, resulting in more lawsuits, many of which are aimed at the little guy. Without thousands of dollars to spend on copyright usage, our hands are pretty much tied. I know it’s harsh, and we don’t like this policy any more than you do.
Now that that’s out in the open, let’s talk about what we can do. We pay to have access to several music libraries across the internet that are constantly being updated. For every Wedding, we search for music to match the style and tone of your edit, all of which we have permission to use. While we do prefer that the editor gets to choose the music on these platforms, we are open to the idea of involving you directly with music selection, if that is your preference. To do so we’d give you temporary access to the music library, and you’d be free to search and recommend tracks that you deem worthwhile. That being said, I would ask that you put faith in our editing capabilities, as to date we have never had a client dissatisfied with our music selection.
Regardless of music copyright, your Wedding video will score! Let’s chat.
